RAFAEL BARTOLOZZI BIOGRAPHY
Navarra 1943 - Vespella 2009

Rafael Bartolozzi belongs to the generation of the 60's, formed by very diverse artists but attached to the recovery of figuration and Pop Art.

In 1962 he began studying Fine Arts at the University of Barcelona and started exhibiting in this city. In his beginnings, Bartolozzi was fascinated by the abstraction of Millares, Saura and Tàpies.

In the 1960s, he returned to figuration and became one of the leading representatives of Pop Art in Spain. In the 80's he sporadically leaned towards informalism, without forgetting the conceptual and objectual aspect of his work.

Bartolozzi was the director and creator, along with Joan Abelló, of the Joan Brossa National Visual Poetry Prize.

His work is present in the main museums of Contemporary Art.
